Turkey: Kurds, Riot Police Clash

One person died Nov. 16 in rioting between Kurdish protesters and riot police in the southeastern Turkish city of Hakkari. The riots, reportedly prompted by the bombing of a bookstore in nearby Semdinli, also claimed three lives on Nov. 15. Three Turkish security officials are accused in the bookstore bombing, which is believed to have targeted a member of the Kurdistan Workers' Party.
